Two great blogging journalists
May 10th, 2006
I’ve heard it said that a great journalist just says what you’re thinking, but better and more concisely. (Clearly a journalist isn’t writing this blog)… I had two encounters recently that have stuck in my mind.
First, I was supposed to meet the larger-than-life Om Malik in SF last weekend, but accidentally ran into him this past weekend in NYC. So I said “Om, clearly I have to travel far and wide to meet you..” His wry response?
“Oh, didn’t you know? All roads lead to Om…”
On a much more lip-biting note, I met with Diane Francis, the Canadian journalist who is famous for her columns (at least up north). We were discussing parental issues and she said something I don’t think I’ll ever forget… she said
“A parent can only ever be as happy as their saddest child”. Wow.

on a somewhat parallel note … “Literature is news that stays news” (Ezra Pound)
